Waterproofing in the bathroom is the most headache inducing thing for us during decoration, and it is also an important aspect that cannot be ignored in home decoration. If the waterproofing of the bathroom is not done well, it will always bring you a lot of trouble and affect the residents downstairs. The waterproofing problem of the bathroom cannot be ignored. How to waterproof the bathroom?

1. Protecting the original waterproof layer: In newly constructed buildings, the floors of bathrooms and kitchens have waterproof layers made according to relevant regulations, so there is generally no leakage after moving in without damaging the original waterproof layer. But now many consumers like to add some bathroom bathing facilities or rearrange or move various water supply and drainage pipelines during decoration, which can easily damage the original waterproof layer of the building. The waterproof layer is easily damaged when renovating the floor. If not repaired in a timely manner, leakage may occur in the future, affecting neighbors. So when conducting waterproof testing, if it is found that a certain waterproof layer has been damaged, the wall tiles cannot be smashed open. Instead, professional joint filling materials can be used to block the gaps.

2. Ground waterproofing: If it is necessary to replace the original floor tiles in the bathroom, after chiseling them away, the ground needs to be leveled with cement mortar first. If the ground is uneven, the waterproof coating may not be evenly applied, causing the tiles to easily crack. So before doing waterproofing, it is necessary to clean the ground thoroughly, and then repeatedly apply polyurethane waterproof coating 2-3 times to form a new waterproof layer The joints between the wall and the ground, as well as the pipeline ground joints between the upper and lower water pipes, are all blind spots for waterproofing. It is necessary to supervise the workers to handle these edges and corners well, apply waterproof coating in place, and do a good job of cement root protection. Brush 10 to 20 centimeters of polyurethane waterproof coating upwards from the ground, then redo the polyurethane waterproof coating on the ground and add the original waterproof layer to form a composite waterproof layer to enhance waterproofing.

3. Wall waterproofing: Waterproofing treatment is also required on the walls of the bathroom. Due to water splashing onto adjacent walls during bathing, if there is no waterproof layer for protection, adjacent walls and opposite corner walls are prone to moisture and mold growth. Therefore, before laying wall tiles, it is necessary to do a good job of wall waterproofing in advance. In general, a 30cm layer of paint is applied to the wall from the ground level upwards to prevent water from seeping into the wall and causing moisture regain. However, many families now use shower rooms, so it is necessary to apply waterproof coating up to 1.8 meters, so that water splashing from the body during showering is less likely to seep into the walls. If the household uses a bathtub, then raise the waterproof layer height to 30cm above the bathtub.

4. Waterproof test: After the waterproof project is completed, a "water storage test" is required to ensure that the waterproof project is in place. After sealing the entrance and drain, fill the bathroom floor with water to a certain level and mark it. The water storage depth for the water storage test should not be less than 20mm, the water storage height is generally 30-100mm, and the water storage time is 24 hours. If there is no significant drop in water level, it is considered qualified. Experience: In the early stage of the water storage test, it should be checked downstairs every hour, and in the later stage, it should be checked downstairs every 2-3 hours. If water leakage is found, the water storage test should be stopped immediately, and the waterproof layer treatment should be improved again. After the treatment is qualified, the water storage test can be carried out.

If the waterproof effect of the bathroom can be achieved, it can make your bathroom durable and long-lasting, without worrying about water leakage, allowing you to use the bathroom satisfactorily.
